How did you find out about Laura Tedesco Jewellery Design?

She's bloody talented. Having worked as a designer and creative director for 10 years myself, her attention to detail, sensibility for structure and composition, and impeccable taste made her an obvious partner in my effort to create a one-of-a-kind ring.

What did Laura create for you?

Laura helped me create an engagement ring even more stunning than I had imagined. She translated every idea I threw at her and turned them into a few very tight renderings. Then with a perfect mix of candor and grace, she listened to every thought I had and made sure I didn’t settle on the final design until I was completely happy.

Why did you want an original design?

I didn’t want to be sold a lovely ring by an overly cheerful salesperson. I wanted to imagine one, craft it until it was perfect, and make the process part of our engagement story. Christina is at the core of everything that makes my life special. We’ve shared so many incredible memories together. So “I walked into De Beer’s and waited for a salesperson...” just didn’t feel like the right way to start our engagement story.

Was there any special meaning/ inspiration behind the piece?

My relationship with Christina, my fiancé, was the inspiration for her engagement ring. She’s the most special thing I have in my life and I wanted to create something that she might treasure the same way I treasure each day with her. From its unique use of blue tones, to the composition of the stones, to the hearts inspired by our initials, the ring is perfectly “us.”

How did you feel when you first saw your newly designed piece?

It. Was. Perfect.

In fact, I was so excited at how perfect it was that I couldn’t wait to propose. Rather than trying to pull off the elaborate proposal I had been planning, I proposed on the fly, in the moment, the morning after I picked the ring up. And it was perfect. So perfect :)

If this was a gift, how did the recipient react?

She doesn’t take it off!

Why should someone come and see Laura?

There isn’t a lot of treasure left in the world. It’s because the things we have are often so disposable, mass produced, and frail that they hold little to no value. Laura helped me create a little piece of treasure for Christina that she will hold dear forever and ever.
